Executive Chair and Group CEO
Xoliswa Kakana founded ICT-Works in 1999 and has served as the company’s Chief Executive Officer since inception, overseeing the company’s operations in South Africa and the rest of the African continent.
An electrical engineer by profession, Kakana has more than 25 years of experience in the Electronics Engineering and ICT sectors, holding positions in many blue-chip technology companies. Since the start of her career, Kakana has positioned herself as a leader in the information, communication and technology (ICT) sector in the country. She is an active contributor to the evolution of the industry and participated in the development of the Green and White Paper processes that led to the Telecommunications Act. Thereafter, she continued to drive the process of transformation in the sector through her involvement in the Women in ICT forum of which she is founder and former chairperson.
Kakana has held several board seats, and is currently non-executive director at Broadband Infraco, and ZA Central Registry (ZACR).
In 2009 Kakana was honored with the Women in Technology award; was a finalist in the Telecommunications Business Woman awards in 2011; and a finalist in the Business Woman of the Year award in 2012.
Kakana holds a BSc Maths and Applied Maths from the University of Transkei; a Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering from F.H. Giessen-Friedberg University, Germany; a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from
Henley Management College, London; a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Technology Management and Innovation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University.
Managing Executive: Public Sector
Sindile Ncala has a wealth of experience within the ICT sector, having previously worked at local and international companies such as the Edcon Group, Accenture and Standard Bank, where she rose to senior management and spearheaded the implementation of two major projects in 11 countries across Africa.
At ICT-Works, Ncala is responsible for the Public Sector and Business Development in South Africa and other African markets, and for creating a solid foundation to sustain ICT-Works’ growth strategy. Having already secured the South African National Treasury, and the Kenyan Finance Ministry as clients, Ncala also aims to dominate the supply chain management market in South Africa and the rest of the African continent with ICT-Works’ Integrated Financial Management
Ncala has a Programming Diploma, a Systems Analysis and Design Certificate, and a Project Management Diploma.
Chief Operations Officer
Margaret Sibiya started her career at IBM where she progressed from a programmer to project manager. She expanded her experience working in the Banking Industry, rising to senior management at Standard Bank, with a Business Portfolio for Commercial Business Systems across 9 African countries. Her extensive IT industry knowledge spans over 21 years in the areas of Development, Business Analysis, Project Management, Business Operations and Strategy Development.
In her current position, Sibiya is responsible for leading Strategic Operations that will cement ICT-Works as a top ICT provider across the African continent. She believes that there is huge untapped potential in Africa as a whole, and has geared the company to grow its footprint on the continent, by developing and providing Africa-specific solutions for clients.
Sibiya holds a National Diploma (IT), Business Management Diploma, and a Project Management Diploma. She has a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), and is currently studying towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology (BTh).
